Happy December 1st! I love December 1st it is like a mini-holiday at my house!!!! When I was little my mom started our December 1st tradition, each year on the 1st she would give us a gift to bring in the Holiday Season! Over the years I have received many fabulous things that I still use today...from Christmas decorations, books, ornaments, fun Christmas jewelry anything that can be used through-out the month of December-my mom still does this tradition for each of us and our families. I have also continued this terrific tradition with my husband and kids. I loved growing up in a home where my mom put a lot of time and thought into making Holidays and Birthdays so special Thanks Mom! Love, Marla

Who doesn't love Target???? And the Dollar-section has lots of fabulous Christmas finds!!! The glitter words are of course a must have-they come in different colors and words like Noel, Peace, HoHoHo etc. For $2.50 you can't pass up this fun buy.....and these words will go just about anywhere: stick them in your Christmas tree, on the mantel, in your favorite wreath or wrap them in cellophane with ribbon and you will have a great little gift to give. A festive pack of dish towels will really get you ready for all of your holiday cooking. The dollar section also has fantastic retro candies from the 80's and let's face it we are girls of the 80's!!!!! You remember those great games like Sorry, Clue, Life etc. fill your stockings with Game Night candies, LemonHeads or Double Bubble. Grab all your Christmas packages your favorite soda and treat and head on over to your girlfriends house to wrap the night away in style!! This is exactly what we get to do in our neighborhood. Our darling neighbor hosts a wrapping party, after all the kids are tucked in we sneak out and wrap into the wee hours with one another. She will even store any gifts we want to hide down in her basement!!! She has all kinds of wrap and ribbon but of course we can also bring our own!!! Seriously this is the best holiday party, it gets you and your purchases organized. No more all night Christmas Eve wrapping!!!!

Girlfriends, treats, laughing, fun all night long, really what could be better!!!! Have a great time! Plan this one now!!!!

ONE SHOPILICIOUS TRADITION!!!!

For almost 20 years my mom and her three best friends have taken their daughters the weekend before Thanksgiving shopping together. For some of us it is the only time of year we see each other and we now anticipate it all year long!!! I have had many girlfriends copy this tradition with their sisters and friends. We start first thing Friday morning, then we all meet Friday night at the Hotel for food, matching pajamas, games, and memorable mom entertainment!! Somehow over the years the production the moms create gets better and better. This year it was Dancing with the Stars and the Dads made a guest appearance!! Sister-in-laws are always included and granddaughters are initiated into the group at 12 years old. We have about four granddaughters now, who were inducted by candle light and shopping cash from grandmas. It is a tradition that all the granddaughters anticipate and look forward to.

This is a tradition that will make memories for a lifetime. It can be as simple or as elaborate as you want it to be. Find the time to make these memories, it is worth the effort!!!

We are sorry, we checked out from blogging last week. We were crazy busy getting everything ready for the boutique and we also catered and decorated for a baby shower. By the way Kati, Lisa and Becky thanks for letting us make your baby shower Over The Tipsy Top, we had so much fun doing Kati's big event! Our boutique on Thursday was such a hit that we will not be doing a Draper Boutique. These are some of the items we featured at the boutique. We do have a small amount of stuff left but, not enough for a whole boutique and not enough time to replenish it all by Thursday. It was amazing to us the great response we had, so thanks to all of you who came-we had a fabulous time seeing family, friends and meeting lots of new people! Our boutique days may not end here we are highly considering doing a spring boutique too! We are definitely in the Christmas spirit now, so stay tuned for gift ideas, decorating tips and fabulous Holiday recipes!!!

It's hard to believe but the holidays are upon us. Soon our houses will be filled with boxes from the storage room, Christmas decor, and holiday music blazing!!! This year reach outside your comfort zone and add a little Christmas decor that is out of the box for you. Last year you could find two or three lamps in this tree, sounds crazy but it was so great!!!!

There will be wonderful ideas, home couture, Christmas decor, girlfriend and neighbor gifts, GREAT GIVEAWAYS all day at our Christmas Boutique on Thursday Nov.13th. GORGEOUS GLITTER EYES!!!!

Now, did you really expect the Tipsy Girls to celebrate Halloween without glitter makeup. Absolutely not!!!! You'll need to double click on the picture to get a good close up. The darling girls at the Mac counter assured us that although body glitter is not meant for eye lids it is safe for the evening!!! The glitter needs to adhere to a cream base. Meaning... creamy eye shadow, liquid foundation, etc. Next, use a small flat makeup brush to pat the glitter into the creamy base. A small amount may fall on cheeks but that just adds to the look. It's that simple, our glitter and cream shadow is from the Mac counter but any product similar will do the trick!! If you have girls at home just dig through that messy drawer in the bathroom!!! This Gorgeous Glitter eye is great for little girls or glitzy moms!!! Have a Glitter-licious evening!!!!

IT'S ALMOST TIME!!!!

It's almost time for the big day, Halloween is upon us. So gather your friends and neighbors together and celebrate. We are having a potluck dinner right before the trick-or-treaters go out. Hopefully we'll have some neighbors come we've never done this before!! This Halloween don't let those empty planters and urns go unused. Fill them with water and right before guests arrive drop in the dry ice!!! This is so fun for kids and adults. If your planter has a whole in the bottom use a bucket etc. inside to get the same effect. If you have multiple urns you can also float candles in them for the evening. When you buy your dry ice make sure they wrap it really well, preferably in butcher paper. It can evaporate before you even get to it!!!! Have a fabulously spooky night!!!!

We announced last week the winner of our baby giveaway was lucky #16 Kari....who is expecting a little girl this month!!!! We wanted to show you just what she will be receiving.....some of our favorites. Now we both love Christmas and this is the perfect time to add an ornament to any gift that you are giving. (but actually you could add an ornament anytime from about July to February, because the stores seem to have their Christmas stuff out for that long)! The classic piggy bank is always a nostalgic favorite, don't forget another classic; a great measuring-growth chart. Now for a new little girl she has to have a bracelet, let's face it that has to be a main staple to every girls outfit!!!!! A couple onesies and Kari's baby package is complete! My mother-in-law makes these and they are delicious. She is a wonderful baker, I am a little nervous to try it on my own. Unless you have a sweet lady in your life that will make this for you, you have got to try it on your own!!!

Pumpkin Roll

INGREDIENTS

Powdered sugar

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs

1 cup granulated sugar

2/3 cup Libby's 100% Pure Pumpkin

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Filling

1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

1 cup sifted powdered sugar

6 tablespoons butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Powdered sugar
Pumpkin Roll Servings: 10

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan; line with wax paper. Grease and flour paper. Sprinkle towel with powdered sugar; set aside.
2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in small bowl. Beat eggs and sugar in large bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Stir in flour mixture. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Sprinkle with nuts.
3. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until top of cake springs back when touched. Immediately loosen and turn cake onto towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting with narrow end. Cool on wire rack.
4. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter and vanilla in small bowl until smooth. Carefully unroll cake; remove towel. Spread cream cheese mixture over cake. Reroll cake. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate at least one hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.

ELEGANT THANKSGIVING CORNUCOPIA

A cornucopia is actually a very simple project to complete because there really is no right or wrong. Michael's Craft Store, Roberts Crafts or your local craft store will have traditional cornucopias like this one. If you are lucky enough to have a design store close to you they may carry rusty iron cornucopias that are wonderful. If you are going to use fresh cut stems use what you can find in your environment. Consider where you live and find plants, flowers, trees, even palm trees, that grow in your area to fill the cornucopia. Start with floral foam that has been saturated in water, to completely saturate it will take a couple of hours at least. Then cover in floral moss, start adding your cut stems. Gradually fill the cornucopia as if things were just spilling out. To embellish use ribbon, fresh flowers, or mini pumpkins (sprayed with gold spray paint and, or glitter spray of course)!!! Remember this project is simple, its not meant to be hard, don't over think it and use what is in your own environment so your able to keep the cost low!!! Elegant and beautiful does not have to have an extravagant price tag.

DELIGHTFUL PUMPKIN CENTERPIECE!!!!

For this great centerpiece you will need orange flowers, skewers, floral foam, pumpkin stem, and leaves. Soak your floral foam until saturated, this will keep your flowers fresh for a few days. Insert skewer into pumpkin stem then insert into floral foam. Start adding flowers, if your stems are delicate use skewer to make whole, then insert stem of flower. Create your pumpkin then top it off with leaves from the garden etc. Thanksgiving day everyone will be so impressed with your creation just set it out on a cake stand and wah-lah!!!! Giving Thanks never looked so good!!!

THANKSGIVING DELIGHT!!!!

Layers of snow-white whipped cream and spiced pumpkin mousse create a festive dessert for the holiday season. Top with chocolate curls for an elegant presentation.

5 large egg yolks
1 cup(s) sugar
31/2 cup(s) heavy cream
15 ounce(s) canned pumpkin
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoon(s) ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon(s) ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon(s) ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt
2 tablespoon(s) dark rum(optional)
1 teaspoon(s) powdered gelatin
3 ounce(s) shaved dark chocolate
DIRECTIONS
1.Fill a large bowl halfway with ice water and set aside.
2.Whisk the yolks, 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, and 3/4 cup cream together in a medium saucepan. Heat while stirring continuously with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon over medium-low heat, until thickened and the mixture coats the spatula -- about 10 minutes. Transfer to a medium bowl and set over the ice bath. Stir to cool.
3.Add pumpkin, vanilla, spices, and salt to the egg mixture. Stir 1 tablespoon rum and 1 teaspoon gelatin together in a small bowl. Heat the remaining tablespoon rum, and stir in to the gelatin mixture until dissolved. Gently whisk into the pumpkin mixture. Beat 1/2 cup cream to stiff peaks, and fold into pumpkin mixture. Pour into a shallow dish, cover and chill until cold and thick enough to fall from a spoon in heavy dollops -- about 8 hours or up to overnight.
4.Beat the remaining cream and sugar to stiff peaks. Alternately layer the pumpkin mousse and whipped cream in a glass serving dish. Sprinkle the chocolate shavings between top two layers. Serve chilled.

It's crazy but the Holidays are upon us, enjoy every minute, don't let the stress over take the moments.

Seriously, these are life threatening but worth it!! They are covered in thorns and also the best orange berries. When I saw them on the street corner I new they had to come to my house for my fall decor. So Marla and I hit the Road with clippers in hand risking our lives for decor!!! We had to laugh because it is really right on a busy corner and if any of our friends saw us they would know exactly what we were up too!!! This wasn't my first offense, I will knock on any one's door in search of FABULOUS branches for my house. They just have to look overgrown and people are more than willing to let you cut away. The strange looks are just part of the fun. Leave your kids at home though, they are mortified by such a mother!!!!!

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION PART TWO!!!!!

Okay, lets start with the clutter bow and sparkly glasses. The clutter bow is achieved with scraps of random ribbon the base of the ribbon needs to provide bulk so use tissue paper, cellophane or gift wrap. The base here is Christmas gift wrap crinkled, yes, Christmas but it coordinated with the Halloween ribbon and no one new the difference!!!! The glitter glasses have been on the blog before, now we have them in every color and they have come in very handy!!! Remember, two coats of very fine glitter, still using my Martha Stewart jumbo pack from summer glitter toes. So far I've done 30 glasses so this glitter really goes further than you would expect. Very tedious project though!

The bug-ilicious punch--Diet sprite (two liter), 1 frozen concentrate limeaid, 1/2 frozen concentrate o.j.--SO GOOD!!!

Marla's gift was in the center of the hu-bub under a tall cake dome, then other gifts from friends surrounded the base. So dang cute!! It would be even cuter if your guest got to keep the cake plate and dome but this is one of my favorite so no dice!!!

SURPRISE!!!! We pulled it off a great birthday surprise!! We had great food, great friends, and lots of fun!!! I have to apologize, I'm in charge of the blog this week and I forgot to post yesterday and I'm not getting much Thanksgiving done, sorry. I may have to extended it into next week.

Marla's cake was a Halloween delight, my daughter and I have had this cake for our birthdays since we were little its called a Chocolate Torte any party will be a hit with this sensational treat!!!

2 Chocolate cake mixes bake as directed, 2 round 9in pans

2 8oz cream cheese, 1 1/3 cup packed brown sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, dash of salt--blend ingredients

3 cups whip cream, whip, then fold into other ingredients

When cakes are cool, cut in half, then layer frosting, you should have four layers that can be exposed or covered with rest of frosting. Keep in refrigerator, best if cooled over night then served.

This is great for any birthday or holiday.....DELICIOUS!!!!!

Well, the witches were out and about last night and it was a haunting great time!!!! Tonia & Amy hosted a Girlfriend Witches Night that was an absoutlte hit. Tonia and I wanted to show you our favorite Halloween items, now it was not easy for us to choose one item each but, we finally narrowed it down.....My favorite Halloween item is this fabulous fancy Halloween witch, she is made out of a hard paper-mache, plaster. I love the detail, glitter and the plum and gold colors. I think this is my favorite item because it's different and a little funky. I use my black cake plate to place her on and together its Halloween Magic. Tonia's favorite Halloween item is this fantastic witch picture. This picture was a gift from one of her close friends. She loves the glittered mat and frame. This will absolutely be a Halloween favorite for years to come!!

HALLOWEEN TREES

Well it is obvious we love to decorate and Halloween is no exception. While our husbands shake their heads, we just continue to fill every nook and cranny with Haunting decor! We both have Halloween Trees in our homes-decorating trees is no longer only for Christmas. The Salt Lake Tribune recently had an article that talked about how people in Utah are decorating for Halloween just as much as they do for Christmas----and we believe it! There are just so many fabulous things to make your house Spectacularly Spooky-how can we resist! We hope you are enjoying this Halloween season just as much as we are!

Now, we had to share this great find with you.....this paper mache skull is from Lowes and it was only $5.97!!!!! It looks great just the way it is or make it even better with a little GLITTER. Now, they have skulls for sale at PotteryBarn like this for $19 and the size is 3"X6". This one from Lowes is 9" and the we used about $1 in MP&G! So, if you need to top off your Halloween decor this will do the trick. We used silver with a touch of gold but be crazy and use black glitter with a little bit of orange, or use green with a little bit of purple anything will look fabulous! Happy Haunting!!!

HALOWEEN!!!!! REMEMBER THESE!!!!!!

Oh, you are going to be so sad if you did not get all the goods from the Dollar Store!!!! These have turned out so great!! The containers of little skulls are probably our favorite. We love the embellished signs too!! The sucker garland we made last year but it was the item we were so excited to see was still perfect!!! We didn't know if the suckers would make it a whole year. This is so great inexpensive decor turned OVER THE TIPSY TOP!!!! Don't forget to double click on the images to see the detail, everything is pretty self explanatory except maybe the sucker garland. Oh, the bottom of the skull jars first has a grocery bag in it, then then we dumped glitter over it then added the skulls. The sucker garland takes a bit of effort and purchases. Purchase cording, ribbon is not strong enough to support the weight. Cellophane will rip so use Walmart clear party bags. They are in the party section, 20 in a package for about 2 bucks, they are our favorite we buy them in droves!!! While your at Walmart grab Halloween skinny ribbon for the suckers to hang. Also grab fat ribbon and tulle!!! Wah-Lah you now have the ingredients for FABULOUSNESS!!!!!

Don't you just love Apothecary Jars, well we do...........now candy and treats are usually a sure favorite to fill up these jars---but, it is great to be creative and fill them with fun holiday decor. These bones are the ones we showed you a few weeks ago from Dollar Tree. They have many great uses: not only for the jars but, they have holes in each end so you could string them for garland, you could use them for that Halloween party your hosting, as a food marker. Use a permanent marker and write the name of the dip, soup, appetizer, etc. that you are serving and place it right in the bowl. Fill your jars up with bones, spiders, skulls, bats anything festive and don't forget to leave a few jars for candy!!

This is a great gift or inexpensive halloween decor!! Actually if you over think it, it can add up. So, if it is for you to keep buy a nice hat and make it as extravagant as you want. If it is a gift, or if you decide to make several follow these simple instructions. Family Dollar, local dollar store, or party supply place will have hats for $1. They are vinly usually but they will look great we promise. Poke a whole on each side close to the band that goes around your head. Slip the ribbon through and tye in a knot. Embellish the brim if desired, we have done these lots of times with nothing around the brim. Substitute tissue paper poking out instead, then add treats, little creatures or a small gift. The hat will hold a lot but not a lot of weight, so fill the bottom of the hat with tissue before adding your treats. This is a fabulous project, its tried and true, everyone loves it!!!!

Last week we talked about doing a movie night for your little girls, now it is time to do one with you and your girlfriends. So, get your kids ready for bed, send your husband upstairs to watch ESPN and invite your girlfriends over for a late night flick. This is one of our favorite things to do on a weeknight, we get together around 8:00 and watch a fabulous chick-flick. Now, of course you need treats, just serve them in a way that makes them Over The Tipsy Top. (The treats don't have to be Over The Top just the way you present them does.) So, serve those MnM's up in a fun glass, with a little tulle and bling. Put your popcorn in fun funky bowl, serve your treats on some great plates and that's all there is to it!!!! Don't forget to have everyone wear their favorite comfy PJ's and have a fantastic time!

This is one of my favorite Halloween decorations. This Halloween Scrapbook, is a mini album and I have just added ribbon and a few fun charms to glam it up!!! I have already pre-made all the pages with fun Halloween scrapbook paper so all I have to do each year is take a quick picture of my boys in their costumes, and add it to my book!!! I leave this out on my coffee table for the month of October, its fun to look back over the years at all the terrific costumes! Now, I only put it one or two pictures each year, all the other photos go into our family book. So, if you love Halloween as much as we do, make a Halloween Scrapbook, I found my mini album at http://www.makingmemories.com/ but you can get them at any craft/scrapbook store. Even if you are not into scrapbooking this is easy and really takes no time at all. FABULOUS PUMPKINS!!!!!!!

Tis the season to be decorating!!! My husband asked, "When did Halloween get so popular?" crazy man, seriously...I said, "Didn't you know in the decorating world Halloween is the NEW Christmas!!!!" Even we were amazed last year by all the new decor, Halloween has definately been bumped up to an all out decorating extravaganza!!!! These are gilded pumpkins if you want the whole process go to Country Living.com. Last year we did these pumpkins our own way. The effect was the same, it just didn't cost as much, it's hard to spend alot on something that is going to rot! Pick your desired pattern (by pick we mean think about it in your head), polka dots, squiggles, etc. Grab spray paint, craft paint, sponge brushes, skinny art brushes for detail, gel stain. Walmart is a great place or Home Depot for these supplies. Spray paint is around a dollar at both locations!!! Make sure there is no condensation of any kind on the pumpkin. Spray with desired color then embellish with craft paint, then wipe gel stain over the entire surface carefully. Of course in between each step you are allowing the pumpkin to dry. The aged look is accomplished with the stain! You can use spray varnish or spray glitter after if you'd like extra sparkle!!! These do not hold up well if directly hit by rain or snow!!!!

The perfect summer nights are quickly dwindling. Whether you have a house full of boys or squealing little girls they will love this party. Any T.V. will do big or small, they don't care, my friend projected a movie on the side of her house onto a sheet. Find a spot to lay out blankets, these girls dragged the beanbags from the theatre. Yes, you read right, we have a theatre room and it was still more fun to watch the T.V. OUTSIDE!!!!! But it really was so FUN!!! The night was perfect, the screaming outside not so bad, basically an easy party!! Each girl brought a treat to share, we provided the drink and party house!!! The Sound of Music echoed throughout the night and the girls just loved being together!! My son has also done this with the game systems, it must just be fun to enjoy the evening. So get out and have some fun with your kids or let them be the entertainers!!! I will leave you with this DA-LICIOUS punch recipe one more time just in case you missed it the first time ---

These turned out so BLOODY cute!!!! This is dollar store stemware and the skeleton pitcher is from Walgreen's. We showed both of them on an earlier blog (necessities for Halloween). The glitter that works best for glass is the fine Marth Stewart that you used on your toes!!! So grab your glitter, use a small brush to put the modge podge only where you'd like to embellish. It's really that simple and takes only minutes to accomplish!! Have a BLOODY good day!!!!!

This project started for my theatre room then became entertainment for my kids, niece, and nephew. They all grabbed letters and glitter and filled a laid back morning in Idaho with a little fun! We spelled popcorn, movies, Hollywood, picture house, and treats with alot of glitter and even more modge podge!! It was nice to do double duty though, get a project done while at the same time entertaining kids! It was my sister-in-law who suggested the lime green was perfect for HALLOWEEN! So find some great glitter, get out the modge podge and EMBELLISH. These letters are still going in the theatre but not until after HALLOWEEN so they are naked!! Add ribbon, wrapped candy, little bats, your dollar store bones, the possibilities are endless!!!

The letters are usually $1.99 but you can get them on sale all the time. Hobby Lobby and Roberts Crafts carry these exact paper mache letters which stand on their own which is nice. Many craft stores have something similar so go get shopping and have a great time!!!!

Ladies it's time for a little project this weekend......get a witches hat and glam it up! All you need is a few fall picks, a fun spider, crow, skeleton and a feather boa can transform that plain witches hat into a fun piece of your Halloween decor. Look through last years decor and use some of that to decorate your hat! Just stuff the inside with batting so it will stand tall and don't forget the hot glue gun because you will need it for this project. Have a withcy weekend!

THE HEALING FIELDS

September 11, 2001 will be a day that we will never forget, we will never forget where we were at, what we were doing when we heard the news.......tragedy and loss in our great nation. In Sandy, Utah they have a place called 'The Healing Fields" each year on 9/11 they put out a flag in honor of every single person that was killed by terrorists on that fateful day. Each flag has printed on it the names of all those who lost their lives. They also have a flag from the country, where each person was from. It is truly an amazing site. There is also a section of flags representing those from Utah who have lost their lives fighting the war on terrorism. Through-out the day they have Servicemen and women singing patriotic songs, policeman, fireman, firetrucks, army trucks etc. If you live near by, take the opportunity to go, if you don't, find out if your community does anything similar to this. We are so proud to be Americans, we are so blessed to live in this beautiful nation, today is a day that we will forever remember not only for the tragedy that happened on this day, but for the strength and courage we have as Americans!

Well it is official-fun, ruff, rugged boys cups! We couldn't leave our boys out of having their own fantastic cups- we just had to down size on the use of ribbon and frills! BIG RED FIRE TRUCKS

Don't boys love trucks of all kinds---especially the big ones with all the horns, lights and sirens? In our box of superhero costumes we happen to have two fireman outfits so, I dressed up the boys and off we went to our local Police/Fire-Station. The boys each colored pictures to give to the fireman, we stopped at the store for ice-cream treats to give them. I thought this was a great opportunity for my little ones to do something nice for those who serve in our community, and of course they had a fun time doing it. They took the boys on a tour the Fire-House, Ambulance and Fire Truck and they absolutely loved it!!!! This fun little outing didn't take much time or preparation. Tonia and I both enjoy being involved in our community and truly believe that little acts of kindness go along way. So, take your boys on to your local fire station, police station, senior citizens center, anywhere in your community and do something nice for someone else. Let us know what you are doing in your community!

More FABULOUS boy ideas coming your way!! Yes, boys are fabulous too and you should tell yours today!!! Whether you have a budding artist at home or not, all boys like to get messy. This is a great project for your boys, plus ultimately you want it to be decor in their room so with a little guidance the final product is easy to achieve. Start with canvas that is stapled to wood. You can get them at any craft store in a variety of sizes. The bigger the better if you've got a lot of space to fill. Pick a quote that is meaningful to your son but short. Have a plan in mind...stripes, solid, abstract, etc. for the canvas if you'd like it in their room. Only display paint colors for him to choose from that will coordinate with his decor. Sit the pink out and he will choose it to be funny!!! DO NOT USE BLACK unless you want a solid black background or for the writing. Black used in this project is messy. The paint is regular craft paint from the store, you can use sponge brushes and your fingers!! This project is very rewarding for all ages, its not about perfection though, these are not meant to be exact. Let your son be the artist!!!

Industrial silver ladders are a great way to display your sons treasures, whether they be rocks or their girlfriends pictures. When I use them in a clients teenage room their is really no need to worry about securing them to the wall. For little boy clients, I find a way to secure it. The industrial ladders are also great suspended from the ceiling which allows you or your son to hang all kinds of great stuff from it. Have fun and be creative, your son is so worth it!!!!!

It's our BOYS week and we are excited, we do have to admit it has been a little bit of a challenge because we can't use our MP&G and it's difficult to make boys things Over The Tipsy Top but we will do our best, so here we go........ We love our boys and we love our cupcakes....it may not seem like it but we don't always use MP&G and all the fun girlie stuff. A few years ago when Pixar "Cars" was the big rage, Marla's little boy loved them!!!!! So, each time she went to the store she would look to see if they had any new "Cars" in... one day she made a batch of cupcakes and then went to do a little shopping, on that trip she found a couple new "Cars". When she got home she opened them up and put them on top of the cupcakes, Mckay was gone that day but when he returned home he was so excited to see his "new Cars" on big fluff cupcakes! So, find a little gift for your boys and give it to them on top of a cupcake, trust us they will love it!!! The skeleton and cross-bones is a gift card to a skate shop, you could do a golf, a gas or fast food gift card for your teenage boys. As you can see we wrapped a bit of ribbon around the cupcake paper, you just need to use a little of your left over frosting to hold it on there. Most of the cupcakes in the bottom picture don't have ribbon and what a difference it makes!! (Ribbon doesn't always look girlie) Yes, you could change it and make it girl stuff but this is Boys week so, do a few fun extra things just for your boys! Love, The Tipsy Girls

Well I don't know about you but I'm tired of running back to the store for more school supplies! It is costing a fortune!! Although these beauties will not break the bank at all!! Grab all your scraps and the supplies you have already purchased and bling, bling, bling!! Feathers, jewels, pipe cleaners, ribbon, wire garland, even TREATS, add a little hot glue and off to school!! Your happy campers will be excited and anxious to learn!! This project takes just minutes so have some fun together!! With enough BLING we are bound to see A's all the way!!!

DIVA-LICIOUS SCHOOL FOLDER

Its time to get ready for school!! School supplies have actually come along way, but they just need that extra little push to make them Over the Tipsy Top!! Your girls will be so excited to do homework with this great folder. You can pick up the basic glittered folder at Wal-mart they have several styles available. Use tulle ribbon, wrap around the front page of folder. This allows the ribbon to be removed, the tulle has a lot of stretch so it won't slip off. Tie a bow at the top and start adding strips of ribbon about 4 inches long. You only need to tie the ribbon once, pull tightly, it will stay in place there is no need for a full knot. Alternate ribbon until the tulle is covered, the more ribbon, texture, and pattern, the better!! When finished add a few pieces of tulle ribbon so your finished product flows well. This is just basic, it took 20 minutes and my youngest daughter can do it she is 5. It's a great project for your girls to do themselves, it gives them something to be proud of and show off at school. Sorry, I couldn't think of anything original for boys but I'm not giving up yet!!! If you are not a ribbon scrap saver, start now just throw scraps in a zip lock. Do not go buy bulk ribbon for this project if you don't have extra ribbon lying around, you will spend a fortune. Keep it simple and inexpensive, go to your local fabric store and get ribbon by the yard. I think they sell it as small as a quarter of a yard which would cost less than 30 cents. Three dollars worth of ribbon should do the trick. If you don't have a fabric store close try Wal-mart or the dollar store. Have a great time and best of luck this school year!!!!!

So here are some of my favorites at the moment!! My favorites usually change when my decor color changes, weird I know!! This summer my kitchen decor has been pink, it has been so fun because my house is very Old World so it is an unexpected twist. Autumn is almost upon us when my colors will go rich and dark, then of course Halloween, strangely my favorites come and go with my decor!! My flower spatula from William Sonoma, all should have one. My "EATS" jar was purchased at the Country Living Fair in Ohio last fall it was a great time with girlfriends so it seems to be sentimental and only the treats change. My pink toaster is the BOMB!! This I do love, I also have the pots, pans, beaters etc. My husband hooked me up a couple of Christmas's ago, despite his sarcasm, he is the best gift giver!! My dish soap dispenser is the best, best, best!!! Hobby Lobby is where you will find this gem. So you don't have to ask about the soap, it is a mixer of bright pink and cloudy white. My Nordstrom oil and vinegar is always my favorite no matter what time of year!! Balsamic vinegar is my favorite, these bottles are sold in the Nordstrom Cafe for $12.00. I just refill mine, they are also a great gift!!! My pink petals all purpose solution, let me be honest....it was pink, at the dollar store, and smells good. Oh, and the bottle is cute! Do I need to say more, it just makes me happy to clean up with it. I can't really tell what it does, my kitchen counter looks nice and clean though! Oddly enough, Marla had never shopped at the dollar store until I took her there. Please don't tell me there are more like her out there, dollar store virgins, you must experience them they are fabulous!!! Although, ours is brand new and is still clean which makes shopping there so much more fun, but I'm not afraid of the dives either!! So girls, go spice up the kitchen fashionista style!!!

KITCHEN TOOLS & MORE

We hope you liked our favorite kitchen decor, we also wanted to share with you our favorite kitchen tools.......Most of my favorite things are basics, they are probably my favorites because I use them all the time. The first one on my list is the 'OXO Salad Spinner', if you don't already have it, you need to go get it! I don't use bagged lettuce but even if I did I would still rinse it and this great little thing just spins all the H2O right out of the lettuce-I think it makes your lettuce a bit more crisp too????? I use my 3 'Pink Mixing Bowls' for just about everything-and every kitchen needs a fun set of mixing bowls. My 'Pink Tongs' I use for so many things from, cooking meat, to pasta noodles, to turning bacon, I found these at Target last year during the month of October when they do all the fabulous pink stuff for Breast Cancer Awareness. Now, my measuring cups may look like your average measuring cups (which I do have) but these are 'Odd Size Measuring Cups & Spoons' like: 2/3 Cup , 3/4 Cup, 1 1/2 Cups and 2 Cups. The measuring spoons are 1/2 Tablespoon, 2 Tablespoons etc. I found them at Williams-Sonoma and they are a must for any kitchen because I use them for almost every recipe. Of course the standard Pampered Chef 'Mini Spatula' is a fav. and my 'Stainless Can Strainer' from Target. The white & black 'Mixing Hands' my mom found for me at Christensen's Home in St. George. They are terrific, I use them to toss and mix salads, pasta, etc. You can also, use them to serve with. Love love

My final kitchen favorite is my 'Jillie Willie Apron' it has a little pocket but the greatest thing is it has a small hand towel attached to it-let's face it when I am cooking I am constantly in need of a towel. Oh, one more thing I didn't put in there are my 'Wilton Decorating Tools', if you ever decorate cakes or cupcakes you have to have a set!

MAN'S BEST FRIEND IS A GIRL'S BEST ACCESSORY!

For all you dog lovers out there get a load of this, there is a great little spot in the corner of Tonia's kitchen for her best accessory........ First I need to say thanks for all my birthday wishes!!! It was a great birthday week, my friends were so good to me, I hope you didn't mind all the birthday blogging!! Now, back to my favorite spot in my kitchen, my doggy spot. I have a cute little yorkie named Louie, we adopted him, his name is short for Louie Vutton. I am also a Juicy Couture lover which is perfect because they make the most over the top doggy couture as well!! People give me a hard time because it is so girly, we had a girl yorkie first. She was so mean we had to sell her, she hated people!! My oldest son likes to tease that we give Louie breakfast in bed every morning because he leaves his posh house, to a silver tray to eat, where we pour his water from a silver tea pot. You might say he is a little spoiled, his own cologne, designer collars and leashes. He also has his own pair of jeans, leg warmers, and juicy couture coat lined with fur!!! Seriously, now that I've had to blog about it no wonder my husband gives me a hard time about his elaborate living quarters and designer clothing line. It's a little scary!!! Oh well, he is so dang cute!!! Please share your favorites with us, send pics, don't let me be over the top alone!!

GRANNY'S GREAT STUFF!

This week we thought it might be fun to focus on our kitchens: our favorite kitchen decor and our favorite kitchen cooking tools! In Marla's kitchen you will find her favorite item is a picture that she has had stored away in her basement for many years......the picture was her Great-Grandma's. This winter when I was trying to organize my basement storage I came across this picture that my Great-Grandma had in her home, it was a beautiful water-color she bought back in the 1940's!!! I have had it for years but, I always thought it didn't really go with my style of decorating, I had no where to put it and so, it has just sat in storage collecting dust. When I came across it again I knew I had find a place for it somewhere in my house. It may not match my Tuscan Decor but, it has such a sentimental value I can't keep it in storage any longer. I hung it up above some of my kitchen cabinets, added a few side accessories and it all came together! I love the colors in this water-painting and I really think the mat in it, is fabulous: it's a Mirror! Well, after my fantastic picture find it has escalated from there.....I got out more of those boxes that I have had tucked away, things from my grandparents and great-grandparents and I have added many great family treasures through-out my home! I love that these items have 'a story', they add personality and character to my decor! So, take the time to go through those boxes, find some of your Granny's Great Stuff, pull it out and use it...they are great conversation pieces and they will add charm and history to your home!!!!

WRAP IT UP

This week has been so fun for me, I have loved celebrating with Tonia. I just wanted to show you some picture of how I wrapped up her gifts.......Now, of course I told you how to do the boxes on Wednesday so, I won't go into all that, I just used three different size boxes, coordinating paper, paint and glitter it was a fun, fast, project. I used the two larger boxes for her plates and the top had her pearls in it. You could make these boxes and give them as 'the gift', use them for a centerpiece or accent, storage etc. So, go Over The Tipsy Top the next time you need to wrap something up!!!!

HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO!!!!

And the Birthday Celebration continues......we went to dinner last night and Tonia was our Birthday Girl guest of honor! The food was good but the conversation was even better, it was so great it made Char cry!!!! Thanks for a terrific night ladies! Now, you know Tonia and I both love our many dish sets, we also love MP&G so I thought why not but them all together. You can find these clear glass dessert plates at Walmart and of course you know the rest.......I used scrapbook paper, ric-rac, funky green string and MP&G for these cake plates. They are not the most practical plates but, they sure are fun. The only thing not fun about them is they are NOT dishwasher or microwave safe, you will have to wash them by hand and you probably shouldn't get the bottom of them wet. Other then that, you are good to go. Tonia I hope you love your new set of plates! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! P.S. I owe you a cake and then we can but these plates to good use! ENJOY!!!!!

GLOURIOUS GIFT BOXES

For Tonia's present I had found an extra chunky pink pearl necklace, bracelet and earrings that was the easy part but I just couldn't find the right box to put them in. When I was at Robert's craft store I found this brown scalloped chipboard box, with a few changes I knew it would work perfect for her fabulous new pearls. I started out by painting the inside pink, then I painted the top and bottom dark brown. (I left the sides of the box the original cardboard brown) After the paint dried it was time for MP&G and a little scrapbook paper. I needed a little more then just solid glitter for this project so I covered the lid top and sides with scrapbook paper. I did add a solid ring of glitter along the edge of the lid. Now as you can see, tissue paper would have worked just fine to sit those great pearls on, but I had to think of something a little Over The Tipsy Top instead, and pink cotton candy was the first thing to come to mind! I topped it all off with tulle, ribbon and a glittered chipboard "T" outline. I hope this sounds easy and fun to do because it truly was, so the next time you have a gift to give make the outside just as fabulous as what's inside. These chipboard boxes are at all craft stores, they come in a variety of sizes and shapes!

Like Mother, Like Daughter isn't Tonia's Mom just as cute
as she is!!!!

Happy Birthday Girl!!!! Today is Tonia's actual 'birth' day but we celebrated yesterday! Before the festivities even began Tonia gave each of us a gift: a new Birthday, Shopping, Girls Day Out, glitter cup! This was her 'Thank-You' to us for coming to her shopping birthday party. Tonia you truly amaze me, I don't know how you have the time??? So, Thank-you for the glorious cups and for giving us all another reason to spend the day SHOPPING! After we filled our cups with our favorite Sonic beverage, we headed to Dear Lizzie for shopping, lunch, shopping and oh yea, more shopping! After we made our final selections we decided we better hit a few more stores. We stopped at a cute little store in Lehi: 'Bags That Fit' it has purses, things to organize your purse, jewelry and clothes. We couldn't pass up a few of our Salt Lake favorites, we shopped until our feet couldn't go anymore----well OK truthfully we shopped until Mike came to whisk Tonia away for their own 'birthday celebration'!!!

HIP HIP HOORAY LET'S CELEBRATE.....

As Tonia and I became friends and got to know each other better we soon found out how many things we had in common....one of them being our Birthdays! TICK TOCK EMBELLISH YOUR CLOCK

Hobby Lobby has done it again, they have these darling wall clocks for great prices. Now of course they just needed a little extra help; glitter and ribbon always does the trick. The 'Queen Clock' went to Amy to celebrate her 100th Blog Party. We just grabbed the hot glue gun, added the chip board glitter number '100', a few sparkle gems and a touch of ribbon. This has been a week of embellishments, so it's time to get busy this weekend and embellish around your house. Have Fun!!!!!!

100th BLOG PARTY!!!!!

Lets face it, we all love a reson for a party!! Amy had a 100th BLOG party and did it in style. The food was fabulous, and the table decor was over the top. Each place setting had a gift and a card that said what she loved about us, everyone likes to here that!!! Anyone who attended that didn't already have a glitter cup got one! They were darling, but the best part about that gift was she made them and we didn't have too! (Wait, I have to wipe the glitter off my brow!) We were in charge of the cupcakes. They were de-lish, lemon with lemon cream cheese frosting. The frosting had creme bouquet in it which made the flavors intensified. Then the cupcake sat in a lemon syrup yum, yum!!! Thanks so much for a fabulous party girlfriend!!!

FABULOUS INSIDE DOOR DECOR!!!!

Leave no door unturned!!!! Just keep EMBELLISHING!! The first door embellishments are hanging from a wreath hanger. The others are hanging from ribbon which is tacked down on top of the door. One to two tacks are plenty to hold all your embellishments. The tacks are flat head and hard to push in so use a hammer. They come out easily when needed. As for the rest of it, obviously anything goes. Gather up Christmas ornaments, ribbon, vinyl signs, beads, frames, tiaras etc. Have fun, don't scrutinize your project to pieces, anything you put on will look cute. Keep layering until the effect you want has been achieved!!!!!

JUST EMBELLISH, EMBELLISH, EMBELLISH!!!!!

You know you have them, signs of all sorts with cute, meaningful quotes!!! If you have too many its time to evaluate. If you've stuck them in the closet because you have had them so long, dig them out and embellish!! All you need is your hot glue gun, spray glitter from local craft store (actually Wal-Mart is the cheapest place to get it!) and a few embellishments!!! First, glue on embellishments (diamonds, ribbon, etc.). Second, apply thin, even coats of spray glitter until desired look is achieved!! It's that simple, give your vinyl a face lift!!! Have a FABULOUS day! Remember, embellish, embellish, embellish!!

It's time to reconnect with your best girlfriends. Pick out a great chic flick (27 Dresses, P.S. I Love You) call the girls over and don't forget a fabulous treat!!! This doesn't have to be stressful it just has to be fun and spontaneous. Make some cupcakes or delicious carmel popcorn, a few chocolate covered strawberries (ours are dipped in pink chocolate from wedding section at Walmart or cake decorating isle at Hobby Lobby) and your favorite Sonic beverage and that's all there is to it!!! Don't forget to drizzle a little melted chocolate on the plate, then set your glass on top of it (this will work as a great glue to keep that glass in its place)! Now it can't get much better; a good movie, great treats and your best girlfriends that's all we need to make our week complete!

DAZZLING BACKPACK EMBELLISHMENTS!!!!!!!

This may sound a little crazy but our kids started school today!!! We both have kindergartners that are so excited they can hardly stand it! Marla's son is her oldest, so her first to enter elementary (remember the innocence). My little one is my last and told me today she could no longer be my baby!!!! Needless to say, I shed a few tears when she so eagerly let her fingers slip through mine as the teacher called them in. A few weeks ago she and I went to DEAR LIZZIE our favorite store in Alpine. She found a little purse she decided should be her backpack but it just needed a little extra help! So I whipped out the hot glue gun, a flower, ribbon scraps and WAA-LAA!!! So grab your daughters old backpack, embellish it, it will be good as new and save you a little money!!! Have fun, and a wonderful new school year!!!

BLOOMING FRONT DOOR COUTURE "GIVEAWAY"

Can you believe what we have come up with now??? Yes, it's true live flowers on your front door. We have taken a straw bag that we purchased at Roberts and filled it with potted flowers. What a better way to brighten up your summer front door decor. You can use any summer straw bag, ours is lined with a plastic pot liner and then we also filled the bottom half with the liners that the flowers came in, this will allow it to drain and it will not be very heavy. Then we set a variety of annuals in the top and filled in the gaps with potting soil. Remember when you water the flowers pull the basket away from the door so the water won't leak onto your door. Also just a little bit of water each day works best. Add lots of colorful ribbon to make it pop. The "SUMMER" plaque is from Rod Works. GLITTERLICIOUS TOES & FINGERS

It's Glitter Monday but today there is no modge-podge needed! Get salon glittered nails for a fraction of the cost. The glitter finger nails last about a week if your a mom who gets her hands dirty, the toes 2-3 weeks for a flip flop girl. Back in the party and wedding section of Walmart they now carry Martha Stewart Brand!!! Her glitter is by far the prettiest, oh I forgot to mention this is the fine glitter! The regular glitter peals right off, the fine glitter you may have used for scrapbooking etc.

FIRST: Coat nails with a clear nail polish (richer color is achieved with a colored polish that coordinates with the glitter but is not necessary).

SECOND: Drop glitter onto toes and fingers shaking off excess, allow to dry.

THIRD: Apply clear topcoat, allow to dry and wa-la!!!!!

TIP: Polish and glitter that slips onto skin will peel right off when dry so don't ruin your nails trying to remove it while they are still wet.

This is so simple and fun, you are going to love it!!!!! Have a glitterlicious loving week!!

IT'S HOT OUT THERE

We wanted to share with you a few of our favorite drink recipes. We use these for parties, get -togethers, bunco, showers, basically anytime. You can make a little or a lot!

LEMON WATER
1 Tbsp. Citric Acid
1 Tbsp. Lemon Extract
2 1/2 Cups Sugar
5 Qts. Ice Water
*Mix together and add a few lemon slices.

CRANBERRY COOLER
1 Liter No-Name Brand Diet Sprite
1 Can Cran-Raspberry Concentrate
1 Can White Grape Juice Concentrate
*Mix and add ice (Sonic is the best of course, we just buy it by the bag full) Add some berries for a fun flare.

BRAZILIAN LIME-AID
3 Cups Water
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Lime - cut into fourths
* Blend in a blender using the "PULSE" button, pulse 10 times (Do NOT blend more then this or it will leave a rind taste. Then add:
1 Tbs. Sweetened Condensed Milk- Pulse 2 more times. To remove large pieces of lime pour through a strainer and serve over ice.

These are all crowd pleasers. So use them the next time you need to make a fabulous refreshing drink!!!! P.S. You can get these jars at Wal-mart or Target, they come in a few different sizes and they have lids.

If you are lucky enough to live in the great state Utah-you are celebrating our state holiday today----Pioneer Day! The 24 th of July is celebrated almost the same as the 4th of July: Parades, BBQ, Fireworks, Family and Friends. We remember our pioneer heritage, the pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on this day in 1847! What brave wonderful men, women and children who crossed the plains facing harsh weather, horrible conditions and unfamiliar territory. We honor them and remember them this day- we are grateful for their strength, perseverance, hard work, faith and dedication that brought them here. We are blessed to live in this great state and especially here along the beautiful Wasatch Front!

REAL OR FAUX???

A fun way to sweeten up your kitchen is with decorated cakes and cupcakes, actually most desserts will work. For faux frosting use a little water, flour, shortening and food coloring, mix to a paste like consistency. It looks great-it just won't taste great. Just bake your cake like usual and frost it using your favorite cake decorating tools. Add a few embellishments: jewels, crowns, pearls etc. We leave these out for weeks at a time, they are great to sit out on your favorite cake plate or dish. After the frosting is completely hard (which takes a few days) you can spray a coat of clear acrylic or varnish to make the frosting shine! Everyone will ooh and aah over the sweet creations you have made.

TAKE-OUT ANYONE????

Well instead of take-out make it yourself. We thought we would leave you a few Chinese recipes that you may want to try this weekend!!!

FRIED WONTONS

1 lb Lean Sausage, 1 Egg, 1 small can Tiny Shrimp, 1 can fine chopped Water Chestnuts (4oz.), 3/4 cup Celery, 4 Green Onions chopped, 1 pkg. Wonton Skins.
*Brown the sausage,drain off the fat. Mix all ingredients in a bowl, put a spoonful of the mixture on the center of the wonton skin. Dip your finger in a small bowl of water and run your finger on two sides of the skin, fold over forming a triangle and pinch the edges together. Make all of them while your oil is heating up. Deep fry in 365 degree oil until brown. Remove with tongs and drain on a paper towel. Use sweet and sour sauce to dip them in.

SWEET & SOUR SAUCE

2/3 cup Brown Sugar, 1 tsp. Ketchup, 1 tsp. Soy Sauce, 2 Tbs. Cornstarch with water, 2/3 cup Pineapple Juice, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1 tsp. Lemon Juice.
*Mix all ingredients together, except for the cornstarch/water, bring to a boil. Now add the cornstarch and water together and stir into the sauce and boil, stirring constantly until thick.

HAM FRIED RICE

1/4 cup Oil, 2 Eggs (beaten), 2 chopped Green Onions, 1 cup diced Ham, 1/2 cup Frozen Petite Peas, 2 Tbs.Soy Sauce, 1 Tbs. Sugar, 2 cups Cold Cooked Rice.
* Heat oil, saute onion & ham, add rice, peas, soy sauce & sugar. Stir and heat then add beaten eggs.

1 lb. Boneless Pork, 1/4 cup Flour, 2 Tbs. Cornstarch, 1 Egg, 1 (10 oz.) can Pineapple, drain and save juice, 1/4 cup Brown Sugar, 1/4 cup Vinegar, 1 tsp. Soy Sauce, 1 Carrot sliced thin, 1 minced clove of garlic, 1/2 cup chopped Green Onion, 1 tsp. salt, 1Tbs. Cornstarch, Vegetable Oil.
*Cut pork into chunks, heat oil in large skillet. Mix flour, 2Tbs. Cornstarch, 1/4 cup Cold water, 1/2 tsp salt and egg with a hand beater until smooth. Stir pork into batter until well coated. Add pork pieces to the oil about 20 pieces at a time, turn 2-3 times until golden brown. Drain on paper towel then place cooked pieces in a 300 degree oven to keep warm. Add enough water to reserved pineapple juice to make 1 cup. Heat brown sugar, vinegar, 1/2 tsp. salt, pineapple juice, soy sauce, carrots and garlic bring to a boil in large pot, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for about 6 minutes until carrots are tender. Mix 1 Tbs. cornstarch and 1 Tbs. cold water, then stir into sauce. Add pork, pineapple chunks and pepper to the sauce. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, boil about 1 minutes. Serve with ham fried rice.

BABY BOY AND GIRL!!!!

Now, everyone has seen a baby diaper cake at least once at a baby shower, well this is a great way to reinvent that. Marla's friend Jenni is patiently waiting for her baby boy and baby girl to arrive this fall. Of course, with twins she will definitely need a lot of diapers! With a little ribbon, tulle and small baby items you can turn a few packs of diapers into a fun gift. This cake has small items like, shoes, onesies, washcloths, a hat, bracelet and a hanging growth chart. Any small baby item can easily be attached with a little ribbon oh, and the cake is just sitting on a large plastic plate.

Tonia had looked at this piece many times and once it went on clearance she couldn't resist. She knew she could turn this ordinary candelabra into an extraordinary candelabra and that's exactly what she did. Once again with a little MP&G, paint and ribbon you can transform just about anything!!!! The ribbon running down the center adds a little extra elegance. This was on the Miss Syracuse stage and was truly stunning. Tonia used floral foam and moss for the base to hold fresh roses from her yard!!! It now is beautifully displayed in her kitchen. When you find something that you like but its just not quite right remember our favorite transformation tools are MP&G!

MIRROR, MIRROR

We hope you can tell that this is a picture of a large 36X56" mirror, (we found out it's a little tricky taking a picture of a mirror)??? This mirror was used in one corner of the stage. One day as Tonia and I were walking through my house to see if we could use anything for pageant decor, Tonia spotted this mirror in the corner of my garage-it was in my eBay pile of things to get rid of. Tonia said "we need to use that for the pageant". As Tonia and I talked about how we could use it we thought about having a vinyl crown made for it- soon the idea changed to a chandelier, we used the picture from pack of note cards that I had. Kelli from 'Lines To Live By' used the card and was able to print this beautiful vinyl chandelier. The clutter cluster bow adds dimension and personality to now one of my favorite pieces in my home. I was getting rid of the mirror because my home decor is mostly Tuscan, but now this mirror is in the corner of my front room. I love the sparkle and pop it adds to a room that has mostly dark, rich colors in it!!!! We both have many mirrors in our homes, a mirror can help any space feel more open and spacious. Vinyl is very affordable and it will peel off when you are ready for a change. You can have just about anything printed on vinyl. So, find your favorite saying, picture, symbol, initial etc. and have it made into a vinyl sticker. Add a fabulous, Over The Tipsy Top look to any mirror in your house!!!!!

GIANT CLUTTER CLUSTERS

For the next few days we will be posting ideas from the Miss Syracuse stage! It all started a few months ago when I decorated for Jaclyn's baby shower. Myself, Jami and her sisters made pink and green tissue-paper flowers for hours on end-but it was worth it because as you can see, they looked great hanging around the room. The giant clutter clusters for the stage came to life after Tonia and I bounced ideas back and forth, they looked so good at the shower why not make them in a much larger scale for the stage? Now, you may not be decorating a stage but, your next party needs some for sure. These clutter clusters big or small are light weight, so you can easily hang them from the ceiling, light fixture, covered deck or patio. All you need is large paper dunage (the paper that stores like PotteryBarn, Tai-pan etc. wrap your purchases in), cellophane,tissue paper, ribbon and wire.

Step 1: layer one sheet of dunage and a sheet of cellophane, do this 4 times. Gather together in the center and wrap with a thin wire.

Step 2:, repeat step 1, then twist the wire together. This is also the time to attach your ribbon. (so you can hang it)

Step 3: now separate the sheets, forming one large ball.

Step 4: Heat up the glue gun, bunch up a sheets of tissue paper, cellophane, netting or any great item and get gluing. Just place the bunched up end towards the center of the clutter cluster and secure each bunch with a little hot glue.

String them with Christmas lights for a warm, elegant look. Trim the ends if needed.

The ones from the baby shower are easy too. They are made with about 8 sheets of tissue paper; fold accordion style, twist the center with wire, add ribbon, using scissors round the ends of the tissue paper, separate each sheet and hang!!!!

SYRACUSE SERVICE

Now, as most of you know Marla and I live in the great city of Syracuse and love it!!! What a better way to get involved in your city then to volunteer! We both volunteer on the Miss Syracuse Committee and have had a fun time getting to know terrific people in our community. Marla has been on the committee for several years and next year will be the new director!!!

This was my first experience with a pageant, there is so much more involved than I would have ever expected. I have had the opportunity to decorate many homes for myself and clients but never a huge auditorium. My son asked if all the stress and mess we had created of our house was worth it, while we tried to clean up around cluster balls and ribbon. After weeks of preparation the day had arrived to execute the plan. It was overwhelming to be honest, I was so nervous but decided to behave my way through it. Thanks to my dear friends pitching in and working hard it turned out FABULOUS!! As soon as my son saw the finished product he had to agree it was worth the craziness at our house. It was a great learning experience for my whole family!!

Now it's your turn- get out there and get involved with the city you live in. There are many volunteer opportunities at your local library, school, church, community center, senior citizen center etc. Everyone is busy but, a few hours can really make a difference. Most cities post a listing at city hall of current volunteer needs-so check it out, and then leave us a comment on what you do in your community!!!

CHLOE'S CAKES

Happy 8th Birthday Chloe!!! What a better way to celebrate a special 8th birthday then with 8 cupcake "cakes". Thanks to my great sister-in-laws we completed all of the decorating in no time at all!!

When you walk into either one of our kitchens you will see at least one cake stand or cake plate, they can be a wonderful decorating accessory!!! On Tonia's kitchen counter she has one glittered with silver and embellished with wonderful treasures. And, one of Marla's cake stand recently broke at the base but was easily fixed with superglue, Mod-Podge and purple glitter (now known as: MP&G). So, next time you have something broken think again before you toss it, use a little MP&G! Now, go out a get some great cake stands. Happy Glittering!!!!!!!

FIREWORK FRENZY

It's time to pack up and head to the park for the 4th of July festivities. All you need are a few treats, drinks, friends and family. We wanted to give you our list of things every girl needs to bring........ lip-stick/gloss, Cornflake Candy Surprise (or your favorite snack), drinks(we of course stop at Sonic for our Coke and Diet Coke but, don't forget water and juice for the kids), glow sticks, pop-rocks, sparklers & snaps are always a favorite. But this year don't forget a great patriotic book and a few flashlights. As the sun is setting take the time to read to the kids, and lets face it, kids of all ages love a good book. Now everyone knows the essentials; bring a pack of hand wipes and throw in a kitchen towel, for all the spills and messes that are bound to happen. Don't forget the dollar store bowl for your treats, just put a little saran-wrap over the top and off you go. One more thing, we are so over plastic grocery sacks, you can toss one in the bottom of your basket for garbage but do not use it to carry all your stuff---No No No!!!! If you don't want to carry a basket use a cute straw bag, beach bag something other then a plastic bag. Doing a couple extra things can make your fireworks Over The Tipsy Top!!!!!!!

Marla's mom always made Cornflake Candy Surprise when she was growing up and it's a favorite! It's perfect for a day at the park, zoo, in the car, Lake Powell just about anywhere and it's quick and easy to make.......

CORNFLAKE CANDY SURPRISE

6 Cups Cornflakes, 3/4 Cup Light corn syrup, 3/4 Cup Peanut Butter, 3/4 Cup Brown sugar, 1 Cup Coconut. Use a large pan melt the corn syrup and sugar-bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add the peanut butter & stir in the corn flakes and coconut. Store in an air tight container, you can also add nuts, chocolate chips or raisins (My family likes it as is though). P.S. if you need a double batch just make it twice, for some reason anytime I try to double it, it just doesn't turn out as well.

FRIENDS FOOD FUN

When we first met, we had a lot in common. However, as we became friends we realized that we had so many similarities, it's crazy. One of the many things we both share is our love for dishes!! We both have many many sets of dishes from 4 place settings to 20 place settings. We even have a few sets the same (that we bought before we knew each other). It is always fun and festive to decorate your dinner table with fabulous dishes, and they don't always have to be 'real'. Target, the dollar store, Walmart all have a great selection of plastic dishes for good prices. Your whole table doesn't have to be exactly the same either. Remember, you can always just purchase a few pieces and mix them with solids or other coordinating sets. When you have people over for a party or dinner don't forget to add a party favor next to each plate. For the 4th of July use fireworks; a bundle of sparklers or buy a big assortment pack, put a few of them together, tie with ribbon or place in a cellophane bag and leave each person their own bundle of fireworks to use after dinner! You still have a few days left, so make your 4th Over The Tipsy Top by dressing up your dinner table!!!!!!!

GLITTERLICIOUS GLORIOUS STARS

As we shopped our hearts out at Dear Lizzie last Thursday night, we came across some cute tiny paper 4th of July stars and of course we thought we can do those a little bigger and a little Over The Tipsy Top. We used metal stars from Ben Franklin. They were a brown rust color, but not after we got a hold of them. We soon transformed them into shiny, sparkling red and blue stars (yes, of course we used Mod-podge and glitter). The center is covered with crepe paper, red tissue paper, pipe cleaners, K & Co. glitter chip board, a banner and hot glue. (Be careful that glue will get ya, I only have 3 blisters on my hands right now from all the crazy hot glue gun activities Tonia and I have been doing lately!) Use your computer to print your favorite 4th ofof July phrase and make it pop with a touch of glitter. Now its your turn, embellish your metal stars big or small with a few extra things, it not only adds dimension but fabulous flair!

GLITTER ON GOOD THINGS UTAH

We have had a ton of people say they saw our fun glitter cup on Good Things Utah. Yes, it's true, Marti Skold was our MC for the Miss Syracuse Pageant, she also lives right here in our fabulous city! So of course we had to give her a cup in her favorite color---blue! When we gave her the cup on the night of the pagaent, she said I am taking that to the show on Monday----and she did!!!! Yea! She's not a soda drinker but, she loves it for her ice-tea. She did an outstanding job we loved having her with us. We did try to download the clip from the show but, unfortanetly we couldn't figure it out-so if anyone can help us let us know? For now here's a few pictures...... 4th OF JULY JAR DECOR

Is the 4th really a week away?? If you have friends and family coming to your house this year it's time to start getting ready! What a better way to serve them candy & treats then in our favorite containers. They do double duty too because they can be used as your centerpieces. Now they don't all have to have treats in them, the smallest jar is full of sugar sprinkles (you know the kind you use on top of frosting). And let's face it, it's not very Over The Tipsy Top to just pull the sparklers/fireworks out at the end of the night, use them for part of your decorating. Trust us when the time comes for fireworks they will look even better just because they came from fun containers rather than from a plain boring box. Oh yea, by the way you have to try some of these red and white salt water taffy, they taste just like red licorice!!!!! (Smith's bulk section) Have fun and fill up those jars.

LIGHT UP YOUR 4th OF JULY

Your kitchen/dining room chandelier is the perfect place to dress up for any holiday! Add a little glitz to your light fixture-- and there you go--- a splash of holiday that doesn't take up space your kitchen table. The Target star works great for hanging because it's light weight and the stars will twirl around. Hang it with festive ribbon from Hobby Lobby, you can use Christmas ornaments (if you want) and your done!!!! These 4th of July ideas are so easy and for those of you who live in Utah--Bonus you can leave it up the whole month or at least to the 25th! Happy Lighting!
